The Third Annual Romantic Travel Expo & Kissing Contest benefiting Big Brothers Big
Sisters was held on Sunday February 23, 2003 at The Houstonian Hotel. Travel Arts-Cruise
Gallery and Planet Honeymoon, Houston’s leading specialists in vacation and
honeymoon planning, produced the event.
Hundreds of romantics from all over Houston and the surrounding areas attended to
support BBBS and were treated to informative workshops and presentations by
experts on fabulous romantic destinations.
This year’s wide range of featured exhibitors included some of the most exclusive
resorts in the Caribbean tropics such as The Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic,
St. Lucia, and Belize as well as more remote South Seas islands like Tahiti and
Hawaii, and an array of many other exotic countries around the planet. In addition to
receiving inside information on special, secret hide-a-ways and resorts, guest were
also treated to informative workshops on hot lifestyle topics like “Airport Security”
presented by Planet Honeymoon and “Packing Right for Your Next Vacation” led by
Bag n Baggage. All topped off by tasty snacks for everyone courtesy of “Avenue
Chocolates”.
Special event only travel discounts and reduced rate vacation specials were available
along with fabulous door prizes. This years attendees won everything from t-shirts,
and travel books, to free vacations with airfare!
1st Place winners of the Kissing Contest literally
jumped with excitement upon learning that they’d
won 4 nights in beautiful St. Lucia, courtesy of
Stonefield Estates, the St. Lucia Tourist Board and Air
Jamaica Airlines.
2nd Place winners were all smiles upon received four nights
luxury hotel accommodations in Maui and Waikiki courtesy of
Planet Honeymoon and Hawaii Prince Hotels.
3 rd Place winners proudly displayed their “Kiss Art” upon winning two
fabulous nights in Belize courtesy of the luxurious Victoria House
Hotel.
Our three Celebrity judges for the contest included Sunny 99.1’s
one and only Zoe Bonet, KILT-FM’s T.J. Callahan and KPRC’s
Khambrel Marshall who all very graciously donated their time
and “kisses” expertise! All “kissing” couples got to take home a
lovely red canvas personalized with their very own kiss imprints as a souvenir of their
love and following the contest there were lots of happy faces as door prizes for travel
goodies and valuable gift certificates were handed out.
